Costume Designer

Jaylene Roths

Jaylene is delighted to return for her seventh season at Acadia Repertory Theater as costume designer for this summer’s productions of Theatre People and the classic mystery Spider’s Web. She’s especially thrilled that one of these shows finally gives her the chance to live her dream: costuming a production with a fabulously fun 1970s twist. After years of (mostly good-natured) lobbying for the chance to embrace bell bottoms and bold prints, she’s currently preparing her sewing machine for the challenge of polyester.

Jaylene brings a unique perspective to her work, with a fascination for how fashion reflects and influences history. The rest of the year, she teaches middle school social studies at Conners Emerson School. She holds an M.A. in history from the University of Maine and is passionate about weaving together education and the arts.

A lifelong Bar Harbor resident, she and her husband have raised two daughters—and several beloved cats (currently two). Books and cats are her favorite way to unwind after stitching or writing lesson plans.
